Janette Rawlinson– Keynote Speaker at ASLTIP conference 2014

Janette is an independent business consultant, trainer and public speaker. She is Principal Consultant at Just Real Solutions, Treasurer at Women in Business Association and Independent Committee Member for Sandwell Primary Care Trust and Sandwell Healthcare Alliance (Local commissioning group – part of SWBH Clinical Commissioning group). She was Chair of Sandwell Community Healthcare Services (provider arm) and Transforming Community Services board from May 2007 – Dec 2011, leading the organisation to separation -­- being one of the few in the UK to explore Community Enterprise options. She has recently been appointed as a lay member to  a National Cancer Research Network clinical study group.

 

Her career of over 30 years spans various management roles for P&O in the UK and overseas, heading business support services and inward investment operations for West Midlands’ Regional Development Agency and working as a management consultant in recent years.

 

Her work includes personal and business development, coaching and mentoring (including Police senior leaders), Quality assessor for enterprise organisations, independent evaluator for Manufacturing Advisory  Service, trainer for Institute for Engineering and Technology, designer and deliverer of various training interventions for clients in all sectors, OD consultant, business advisor and speaker on leadership, diversity, people development and enterprise. She has judged competitions including IoD  Young Director of the Year (Midlands region).

 

Passionate about leadership and civic society, she plays an active role in the community –currently Treasurer of Women in Business Association (since 2005), member of Corporate Social Responsibility group Thrive and until Dec  2011 Chair of Friends of Town Hall Symphony Hall, former Chair of Common Purpose Birmingham and Women in Business Association and fundraiser for Conductive Education. She was recognised with a Cultural Champion award by Arts & Business for her work with Performances Birmingham in March 2012.

 

Appointed as an ambassador for diversity in public appointments for the Cabinet and Equality Offices in 2009, she is passionate about helping people reach their potential and ensuring the best possible governance opportunities are afforded for individuals and organisations.

 

An advocate for effective leadership, Janette has contributed actively to changing the way organisations are governed, bringing her experience of private, public and not for profit sectors to bear shaping the values and developing governance whilst being an active Non Executive Director on an NHS board contributing to values, organisational development, people development, policy ratification, audit, remuneration and offering valid challenge and scrutiny.
