I’m Marisa, a qualified speech and language therapist with 15 years’ NHS experience. It was my Mum’s stroke at a young age that prompted me to train in this profession, and I know from personal experience how daunting it can be when faced with a condition that changes so many aspects of life for you and your nearest and dearest.
I specialise in supporting people with communication difficulties and swallowing difficulties arising from stroke, dementia, brain injury, and progressive neurological conditions (such as MND, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease). I am also able to use Makaton signing and have level 1 British Sign Language.
I have worked with people from many diverse backgrounds across the country, with a range of communication and/or swallowing difficulties. If you’d like to talk to me about your situation and how I may be able to help, please send me an email or give me a call.
