Speech Therapy North East is led by Matthew Nakonesky, a highly specialist Speech & Language Therapist who has over 15 years experience of working with adults with communication and swallowing problems as a result of stroke/head injury or a progressive condition e.g. Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis etc. Matthew has also had significant experience working with clients involved in a medico-legal claim and clients who require/use high-tech communication devices.

Speech Therapy North East services are carried out in your own home and range from one off sessions for assessment/advice to longer blocks of therapy with a very client-centred approach at the heart of all interventions. Realistic and client-specific goals will always be set and therapy blocks will aim to deliver an appropriate mix of therapist led sessions and therapy tasks which can be completed independently or with the support of family members/carers and progress monitored. The use of technology in providing therapy e.g. I-pads, apps etc is another area often explored with clients where possible.

Speech Therapy North East can also provide training on communication and/or swallowing disorders and can provide tailored training packages for small to large groups.
